Sturos CPA, a full-service professional accounting firm, seeks a Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Calumet, Michigan.

The COO will be responsible for managing the operations of Sturos CPA. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and lead our firm’s operations with a great deal of independence. We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced manager who thrives on making impactful decisions and has a knack for supporting both team development and client relationships. WHAT YOU WILL DO.

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of our firm, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
• Work closely with the managing shareholder to set and review management goals on an annual basis, and provide regular updates on progress each month.
• Serve as a key link between management and team members, as well as between our accounting and administrative staff, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
• Manage workflow to ensure a balanced workload across our tax/accounting and administrative teams.
• Take charge of all human resources functions, including hiring and recruiting, to build and maintain a strong and motivated team.
• Keep a close eye on the firm’s financial health, handling pricing, accounts receivable, and cash flow management.
• Oversee our internal technology, including managing our outsourced IT services to ensure everything runs smoothly.
• Review tax returns as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• $100,000 – $120,000 annual starting salary.

• A CPA license, accounting degree and experience in a similar role is highly valued.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a creative and logical approach.
• Proficiency in Excel is essential.
• Experience with business accounting software (such as QuickBooks or UltraTax) is preferred.
• Ability to foster and maintain a positive, high-performance work environment.
