NYCOA seeks a highly motivated Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join their team in Manchester, NH. As Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, you will assume responsibility for employee health, safety, and environmental compliance for NYCOA, in addition to administration of programs and policies related to health, safety, and environmental management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop compliance programs such as Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Exposure Control, Waste Minimization, Waste Management, Contingency Planning, etc.
• Assist with H&S audits/inspections and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Assist with H&S management systems development, including drafting of standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training programs
• Assist with the management of hazardous waste, including waste characterization, satellite area inspections, training, and correspondence with government agencies
• Develop and lead training programs, including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Bloodborne Pathogens, Biosafety, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Respiratory Protection, RCRA/DOT, HAZWOPER, etc.
• Assist with industrial hygiene related projects, including personal air sampling, indoor air quality assessment, surface wipe sampling, qualitative assessments, etc.
• Conduct job safety analyses and incident investigations.

SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position working primarily Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30pm. Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s in health and safety or environmental engineering/science or related field required.
  • 3 + years of experience in the EH&S field required.
  • Primary knowledge of OSHA regulations as well as knowledge of EPA, NHDES, CWA, CAA, RCRA and other federal, state, and local regulations required.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training preferred, but not required.
  • Professional certification in EHS (CSP, ASP, OHST or similar) preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if needed.
  • Must pass a drug test, physical, & background check.
