Longyear is excited to announce a new role in the company—Director of Real Estate based in Marquette, Michigan.

As the Director of Real Estate, you’ll play a key role in shaping and growing our real estate platform. From identifying new investment opportunities to bringing projects to life, you’ll lead every step of the process—from initial planning and acquisition to successful development and execution. You’ll collaborate closely with the Longyear leadership team to build out the real estate business within our portfolio of companies. You’ll manage a variety of exciting projects, work on rehabilitation and new developments, and create policies that ensure smooth operations. You’ll also build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and more to keep everything running smoothly.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Spearhead Longyear’s real estate strategy, from identifying investment opportunities to overseeing successful project execution.
  • Conduct market research and feasibility studies to uncover new opportunities.
  • Manage acquisitions, negotiate deals, and lead projects through every phase—planning, zoning, design, and construction.
  • Collaborate with Longyear leadership to establish and grow our real estate business while building key community and stakeholder relationships.
  • Oversee financials, ensuring projects meet our goals and budget expectations.
  • Serve as Longyear’s representative for all real estate ventures, working with consultants, government authorities, and public stakeholders.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • 10+ years of experience in real estate development.
  • Expertise in managing the entire development process, from acquisitions to construction.
  • Strong client relationship skills and experience with outside funding sources (grants, tax abatements, etc.).
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, construction management, or a related field (MBA with a real estate focus preferred).
  • A proactive leader with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A problem-solver who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Someone passionate about real estate and eager to make a significant impact in a new role.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed (up to 30%).
