As a Generation Technologist, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our electrical generation systems—like hydroelectric plants and combustion turbines—running safely, efficiently, and reliably. If you enjoy hands-on technical work and keeping systems running at peak performance, this may be a great fit for you.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • $50.43 per hour.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with up to a 5% company match.
  • Additional insurances at no cost to you: short and long-term disability, medical emergency transport, basic life, accidental death & dismemberment, and employee assistance.
  • Generous paid time off and nine paid holidays.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Configure and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), PC, and control system hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and fine-tune electronic, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on key electrical generation equipment.
  • Operate control panels and manual controls to regulate water levels, generators and auxiliary hydroelectric and combustion turbine generating equipment.
  • Read meters and gauges to ensure everything runs within design and safety standards.
  • Capture and maintain data for compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform snow removal, groundskeeping, and general plant upkeep.
  • Collaborate with a team, mentor others, and continue to learn and grow your knowledge of the position.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Technology (or similar), or equivalent experience/training required.
  • At least 2 years of experience operating and/or maintaining control systems in a hydroelectric or industrial setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, SAMA diagrams, and wiring layouts.
  • Basic computer skills including working knowledge of Word, Excel and Access.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Comfortable using two-way radios and responding to emergencies when needed.
  • Someone physically able to work in an active shop or plant environment. The work involves frequent lifting or carrying of items up to 50 lbs., reaching overhead, crawling, kneeling, bending, and climbing. Good hand-eye coordination and full vision in both eyes—including the ability to distinguish basic colors and shades—are essential. Applicants must also have the ability to hear clearly and safely navigate both indoor and outdoor workspaces.
  • You’ll be exposed to all types of weather conditions and may work around loud noise, hot materials, fire, fumes, smoke, gases, and electrical energy. Use of appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing is required at all times.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills as you will analyze/correct control or computer problems associated with a power generating facility.
  • Valid driver’s license required as you will travel on a regular basis to other work locations; willingness and ability to obtain a CDL if needed.
  • Must reside within 30 minutes of jobsite under normal driving conditions.
