UPPCO seeks a Network/Firewall Administrator to join their IT team in Marquette, Michigan. This position offers applicants the opportunity of a hybrid remote work schedule after an initial 90-day onboarding and job orientation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

• Design, install, configure, and maintain network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
• Support and secure both corporate and operational networks, including SCADA systems that control power grid infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network and firewall issues to minimize downtime.
• Monitor and optimize network performance using tools like Wireshark, PRTG, and SolarWinds.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams on technology projects.
• Assist staff with IT issues—bringing a friendly, solution-focused approach.
• Be available to provide on-call support as needed for critical infrastructure.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

• A degree in a computer-related field—or equivalent hands-on experience in IT networking required.
• Preferred certifications include at least one of the following: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto PCNSA, CheckPoint CCSA or equivalent.
• Experience working with network infrastructure and firewalls (Cisco, Palo Alto, CheckPoint, etc.).
• Familiarity with routing, switching, VPNs, VLANs, and firewall security features.
• A collaborative mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to protecting critical systems.
• Strong ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and effectively manage people, urgencies and stress.
• Driver’s license and ability to travel to other UPPCO locations on occasion (20%).
• Must reside within 30-minutes travel time of Marquette, Michigan under normal driving conditions is required in order to meet the hybrid work schedule requirements of this role.
