Carey-Sodergren has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join its crew in Negaunee, Michigan.

You will work in Marquette County and the surrounding areas operating heavy equipment for excavation, snow removal, and sewer/water line repairs. WHAT WE OFFER.

• $25.00 – $35.00 per hour starting pay based on your experience.

WORK SCHEDULE.

• Summer Season (May 1 – Oct 31): Full-time Monday–Friday schedule with about 10 hours of overtime each week (or more if you prefer).
• Prefer full-time year-round work? You can transition to full-time winter work plowing snow for clients.
• Emergency Call-Outs. Some flexibility is needed for occasional after-hours emergencies and trouble calls.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

• Run excavators, skid steers, loaders, plows, and other equipment for excavation, sewer/water repairs, utility access, and snow removal.
• Perform digging, trenching, grading, backfilling, site restoration, and underground utility work.
• Help diagnose and repair sewer/water line issues and assist with installs/replacements of septic tanks, drain fields, and sewer lines.
• Keep properties safe and accessible with professional snow and ice removal services.
• Represent the company well on job sites by providing friendly, professional customer service and clearly explaining the work when needed.
• Use diagnoses and repairs as leads for future potential jobs.
• Inspect, clean, and care for equipment daily while following all safety and company standards; report equipment issues to service manager.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

• A valid Class A or B CDL (commercial driver’s license) with air brake endorsement preferred, or ability to obtain if hired for this position.
• At least one year of excavation equipment experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using diagnostic tools and hand tools in the field.
• Ability to read site layouts and basic utility markings, as well as solve problems.
• Good physical fitness and stamina — ability to lift heavy items, climb in/out of the truck, and handle physically demanding work in outside weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-service attitude.
• Reliability, a good work ethic, and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
