Pettibone
Pettibone is hiring a Manufacturing Project Engineer to support facility, equipment, infrastructure, and manufacturing improvement projects on their Operations team in Baraga, Michigan.
If you like projects that are part engineering, part problem-solving, and part “let’s make this work better” —this may be a great fit for you. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working with production teams, contractors, maintenance, quality, EHS, and operations to keep manufacturing running safely, efficiently, and reliably. You help plan projects, solve facility and equipment challenges, improve processes, and turn good ideas into real improvements on the floor.
WHAT WE OFFER.

- Medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage (employee and family plans available).
- Health Savings Account and Flex Spending Account.
- Company paid short-term and long-term disability insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% company match.
- Employee Assistance Program.
- Paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays, and volunteer time—just to name a few).
- Full-time position with schedule flexibility (M-F 8am-4:30pm, or a flexible 4-day/10-hour schedule).
- Great onboarding and training program.
- A safe, team-oriented, fun work environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO.
- Lead manufacturing and facility-related engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Support production preparedness for new product development (full models and sub-systems).
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and status updates.
- Manage capital improvement projects, contractor work, bid packages, proposals, and project documentation.
- Support facility and maintenance systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, boilers, and steam systems).
- Coordinate equipment installations, facility changes, utility tie-ins, shutdowns, and layout updates.
- Partner with production teams to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and support smoother manufacturing flow.
- Help drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, energy efficiency, and root cause problem-solving.
- Maintain facility documentation including drawings, SOPs, permits, and maintenance records.
- Support safety and OSHA/environmental compliance; participate in audits/corrective action activities.
- Keep projects moving by communicating clearly, staying organized, and building strong working relationships.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
- 3 or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience managing facility, capital improvement, equipment, infrastructure, or manufacturing improvement projects.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, industrial utility systems, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.
- Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, project schedules, and manufacturing facility systems.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once while working independently and collaboratively.
