Copper Country Intermediate School District
The Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) seeks an experienced, collaborative leader to serve as Regional Director for the State of Michigan STEM (MiSTEM) Network. This position covers Region 16 (counties of Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon), is based at the Copper Country Intermediate School District in Hancock, Michigan, and is an administrative leadership position.
In this leadership role, you’ll bring educators, businesses, industries, and community partners together to expand opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). You’ll guide regional initiatives, connect resources, and help students build the skills needed for future careers while representing our five-county region at the state level.

WHAT WE OFFER.
- $85,000+ annual starting salary based on education and experience.
- Health insurance, or if no health insurance is needed—-we’ll pay you $661.84/month instead.

- Paid vacation (20 days), sick time (12 days), and personal days (4 days); paid holidays.

- Full-time, year-round position.

WHAT YOUR DAYS LOOK LIKE. As the MiSTEM Region 16 Director, you’ll provide strategic leadership, build partnerships, and guide regional activities that support Michigan’s statewide STEM goals.
- Lead Regional STEM Strategy. Develop and carry out regional goals and initiatives aligned with the statewide MiSTEM strategic plan, vision, and STEM strategy.
- Build Partnerships. Connect schools, businesses, industries, community organizations, and government leaders to expand STEM learning and career opportunities.
- Lead the Regional Advisory Board. Build and guide a representative group of regional stakeholders to establish priorities, coordinate resources, and turn plans into action.
- Connect Education and Industry. Collaborate with CCISD and Gogebic-Ontonagon ISD leadership, educational staff, and community partners to develop opportunities for students and educators.
- Manage Funding and Resources. Pursue state, federal, corporate, and philanthropic funding while overseeing budgets, grants, agreements, contracts, and responsible use of resources.
- Measure Progress. Gather and evaluate regional needs, program results, and other data to guide decisions, track progress, and improve STEM initiatives.
- Represent the Region. Work with policymakers, state MiSTEM leadership, other regional directors, and advisory councils to advance regional priorities and statewide initiatives.
- Promote STEM Opportunities. Lead regional communications and outreach efforts that share successful programs, resources, and opportunities across the region and state.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant STEM experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 2 or more years of project or program management experience required.
- Experience connecting education with business, industry, philanthropic organizations, or community programs to support learning opportunities. K–12 education and business or industry experience a bonus.
- Demonstrated experience developing funding, combining resources, and following ethical procurement practices.
- Strong leadership skills, including experience building partnerships, managing networks, and bringing diverse stakeholders together toward common goals.
- Proven ability to develop, organize, and lead meaningful STEM education or workforce/talent development programs.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and use data to guide decisions, measure outcomes, and improve programs.
- Understanding of regional needs and stakeholders, with the ability to navigate changing state policies and priorities.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills, along with the ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds.
