The Miscowaubik Club, a membership-based social club situated in the heart of Keweenaw National Historic Park, is hiring a part-time, experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in Calumet, Michigan. This position is flexible and offers a hybrid remote work schedule with onsite office time pre-scheduled.

Do you have an outstanding love of numbers and like to make a difference in your work? If so, this is a great opportunity to utilize your keen bookkeeping and analytical skills. The ideal candidate has an exceptional work ethic, superior attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and is able to collaborate and report to the Club Manager.


  • Starting pay of $25.00 per hour.
  • We do require some onsite part-time hours (minimally two 3-hour days each week of your choosing), but offer remote work and schedule flexibility for the remainder of your time. No weekends.


  • Manage small business financial data on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Provide oversight and auditing for business insurance.
  • Day-to-day oversight of AR, AP and payroll.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and cost analysis.
  • Work closely with a tax consultant for proper tax planning and preparation.
  • Budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Job cost analysis and reporting.
  • Communicate with Club Manager and Treasurer frequently.


  • 3 or more years’ work experience in bookkeeping or accounting required.
  • Experience processing payroll from start to finish is required.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software required; bonus for someone that has converted a QuickBooks accounting system from desktop to a full online system.
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline a plus.
  • Clear understanding of accounting best practices (debits/credits, AR, AP, account reconciliation, cash flow) is required.
  • Ability to work responsively and effectively in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems through effective research, interaction and communication.
  • Ability to maintain/protect confidential client information.
  • Proficiency with general office software (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Professionalism and a well-organized work ethic is a must.
  • Someone able to collaborate effectively with our team to ensure clear communication of business goals.
