Emmet County Road Commission
The Emmet County Road Commission seeks a full-time Class A CDL Truck Driver to join their team in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
This position is ideal for someone who likes working outdoors, operating equipment, and doing work you can actually see at the end of the day. You will help keep more than 1,000 miles of Emmet County roads safe and moving year-round. Safety is the Road Commission’s top priority, and this is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing the job right.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $25.91 per hour starting pay with increases at 6 months and 1 year.

- Year-round position working Monday-Thursday in the summer months; Monday-Friday in winter months.
WHAT YOUR DAYS LOOK LIKE.
This is more than a driving job. You operate trucks and equipment, tackle road maintenance projects, and pitch in wherever the crew needs you. Your work includes:
- Drive trucks and equipment to job sites throughout Emmet County.
- Plow snow and spread salt during winter weather.
- Blade gravel roads and haul and spread gravel, sand, and stone.
- Patch blacktop roads and assist with seasonal road maintenance.
- Perform traffic control and set-up signs, highway markers, guardrails, and snow fencing.
- Operate chainsaws to clear brush and trees from roadways and rights-of-way.
- Change plow blades, wash trucks, check fluid levels, and help keep equipment ready to go.
- Work safely and efficiently around active traffic and changing road conditions.
- Lift, push and pull heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds with assistance.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- At least 1 year experience working in road construction and/or maintenance is preferred.
- Valid Class A CDL (Manual Transmission/5th Wheel Hitch) with Tanker (N) endorsement required.
- A safety-first attitude and willingness to be part of the crew.
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing Michigan weather.
- Ability to perform physical and seasonal duties such as brush cutting, sign installation, traffic control, and general labor.
- Ability to collaborate with others as well as work independently while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to travel throughout Emmet County to worksites in a company provided vehicle.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal scheduled hours and/or respond to emergencies if needed.
- Ability to pass a physical, drug test, and fitness assessment (paid for by the Road Commission)
