Winn Telecom, a subsidiary of Peninsula Fiber Network, is seeking a Field Technician. As a Field Technician, you will be the face of Winn Telecom in the field—installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting broadband telecommunications systems. You will work directly with our infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cabling, ensuring customers experience high-quality, uninterrupted service.

Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Mount Pleasant area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadband internet, data, and voice services.
• Perform site surveys and assess installation requirements.
• Install, splice, and test single-mode fiber optic cable, including fusion splicing and troubleshooting signal loss or connectivity issues.
• Run, terminate, and test network cabling (Cat 3, 5, 5e, and 6).
• Locate and identify underground cables using cable/fault locating tools.
• Operate tools and equipment such as ladders, hand tools, trenchers, and shovels.
• Work in various environments, including attics, crawlspaces, outdoor areas, and confined spaces.
• Ensure all work complies with safety, technical, and industry standards.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service during on-site visits.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work on ladders up to 32 ft.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• 1+ years of experience in broadband or telecom installation preferred.
• Knowledge of telecom infrastructure and low-voltage systems.
• Experience with Cat Cabling and voice/data jack installation.
• Familiarity with fiber optic tools and procedures.
• Landscaping or construction experience is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new tools and technology.
