Excel Fire Protection is hiring a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter for our fire safety sprinkler system company in Marquette, Michigan. If you are already a Union 669 member—-excellent. If you are not yet in the union, but have the experience and willingness to join, we still want to talk with you.

WHAT WE OFFER.

• Journeyman at $46.94 per hour (per Road Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 contract).
• Foreman at $50.44 per hour (per Road Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669 contract).

WHAT YOU’LL DO.

• Inspect, service, repair, install and support fire sprinkler systems with a focus on safety and compliance.
• Serve in a leadership capacity as a foreman within the business.
• Step into the important role of Designated License Holder for the company, if needed.
• Help guide field work, support apprentices, and contribute to a strong team culture.
• Bring professionalism, dependability, and pride to work that truly matters.
• Represent the company well with customers and co-workers.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

• Experience. Minimum 3 years as a sprinkler fitter required; ideally 5+ years of experience.
• Bonus For Your Experience. At 5+ years of experience, you may qualify as a journeyman as soon as you are brought into the union and offered a higher rate of pay.
• Willingness to relocate to Marquette, Michigan full-time and become a long-term member of the team.
• Membership. Current Union 669 membership is welcome, but not required. Must be willing to join Union 669 upon hire if you are not already a member.
• Ability and willingness to serve as a foreman.
• Interest and opportunity to become a company Designated License Holder. This requires documentation showing 3 or more years of relevant experience to meet Michigan licensing qualifications. From there, you would prepare for and take the Mechanical Contractor license exam with a Fire Suppression classification, which covers a broad range of fire protection topics including sprinkler systems and may also touch on kitchen hood systems, extinguishers, alarm systems, and other specialty areas. Not every sprinkler fitter has experience in every part of fire protection, and that is understood. What matters most is having the right foundation, the ability to qualify, and the willingness to grow into this important responsibility.
