Would you like to lead security efforts for a best-in-class software company? ThermoAnalytics, Inc. (TAI), a leading provider of thermal and infrared simulation software and services, seeks an experienced IT Security Officer to join their team in the Houghton, Michigan area. This is a hybrid remote position offering schedule flexibility and opportunity to work from home several days per week.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS. Starting salary of $68,000 – $111,000 annually, based on your knowledge and experience, in addition to a flexible work environment, extensive total benefit package, employee stock ownership, and relocation assistance if needed.


  • Establish, document, implement and monitor information systems based on industry/DOD information security and risk management frameworks.
  • Manage classified IT stand-alone and networked systems including writing and updating system security plans in accordance with all applicable provisions of defense security requirements.
  • Implement, enforce, communicate, and develop security policies/plans for data, software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and information systems security.
  • Monitor the IS Security Program and related procedures to ensure facility compliance.
  • Perform system auditing, vulnerability risk assessments, Assured File Transfers, data integrity containments and investigations on security violations/incidents.
  • Maintain network security and ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information System Security or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience (at least 3 years).
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of Information Technology.
  • Administrative knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Due to federal requirements for this position, U.S. citizenship is required along with the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and other customer clearances.


  • Active Security Clearance.
  • Professional security certification (e.g., Security +, CISSP).
  • Experience with security hardening, assessment, and reporting tools (e.g., SCAP, STIG, Nessus).
  • Experience with LINUX variants such as CentOS.
  • Knowledge of RMF, DAAPM, JSIG, NIST 800-171, and CMMC.
  • Knowledge of TISAX, ISO27001, COBIT, ITIL.
  • IT Networking skills.
