UPPCO seeks an I.T. Support Specialist to join their team in Ishpeming, Michigan. This position offers applicants an occasional hybrid remote work schedule after initial 90-day onboarding and job orientation.

This position supports UPPCO technology (desktops, laptops, printers/copiers, security cameras, radios, phone lines and phone systems) hands-on and remotely, uses a helpdesk ticketing system, and installs, configures, maintains, and optimizes hardware and software while ensuring minimal downtime.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS. Starting salary of $48,693 – $64,924 annually based on your knowledge and experience. In addition, UPPCO places great value in its team by offering a rich benefit and relocation package.


  • Deploy/maintain PCs, laptops, telephones, mobile devices, printers, scanners, conference room projectors, TVs, multi-function devices and other peripherals.
  • Maintain security for UPPCO desktops and laptops by keeping operating system software at current release and patch levels while providing maximum availability.
  • Support UPPCO mobile devices (cell phones, iPad) and applications including Office 365 on employee-owned devices.
  • Install various third-party applications on desktops/laptops; troubleshoots software issues.
  • Terminate, label and test all cabling to EIA/TIA Standards; document results.
  • Repair and troubleshoot issues for company owned radios and radio towers.
  • Monitor, answer requests, and dispatch work tickets for the I.T. Helpdesk.
  • Receive and inventory I.T. hardware and parts.
  • Creates documentation for I.T. processes and user applications for various knowledge bases.
  • Respond to emergency calls; troubleshoots/repairs network problems in a timely manner.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in an I.T. position.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification a bonus.
  • Experience in a Helpdesk environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting desktop computers, laptops, network printers/copiers and VOIP preferred.
  • Experience terminating network cabling and testing to EIA/TIA standards preferred.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 software and Windows 10.
  • Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritize tasks, and remain organized.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly manner.
  • Solid research, analytical and problem-solving skills relative to a wide range of computer issues.
  • Ability to absorb and retain information quickly.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours support and the IT on-call rotation.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel frequently (up to 40%) to UPPCO owned service centers/facilities.
  • Must reside within a 30-minute commute, under normal driving conditions, of the Ishpeming office.
