Northern Hardwoods, a producer of world-wide premium hardwoods, is hiring full-time General Laborers to join their team in Atlantic Mine, Michigan. Position offers a choice of first or second shift.

The ideal person for this position enjoys hands-on, physical work and wants to be part of a state-of-the-art hardwood sawmill. You’ll play an important role stacking and handling quality lumber while learning the operation and building your skills. Previous sawmill, lumberyard, forestry, or production experience is helpful, but not required—we’re happy to train someone who is dependable, motivated, and interested in growing into greater responsibility and higher pay.

WHAT WE OFFER.

  • FIRST SHIFT: $16.91 – $23.39 per hour (Monday–Thursday 6am–3:30pm; Friday 6am-12:30pm).
  • SECOND SHIFT: $17.41 – $23.89 per hour (Monday–Thursday 3:30pm-2am).
  • PLUS $1,000 sign-on bonus.
  • PLUS monthly production bonus.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • 18 years of age or older and reliable transportation is required.
  • Willingness to be trained and assist other production areas.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to check lumber thickness, stack, sort, and assemble lumber packs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and saws, or willingness to be trained to operate these machines.
  • Practice safe work practices by lifting properly, wearing protective equipment/clothing (safety glasses, footwear, hardhats, hearing protection, etc. as needed) and maintain a safe work environment always.
  • You are energetic, reliable, and work well individually and as a team member.
  • You work well under time constraints and can ensure deadlines are met.
