Menominee County Road Commission
The Menominee County Road Commission seeks a Mechanic to join their team in Stephenson, MI. As a Mechanic, you will repair and maintain pickups, trucks, heavy-duty equipment, and special equipment at the Road Commission.
No CDL? No problem! We will assist you in obtaining your CDL. We utilize an on-site trainer to reduce your cost of obtaining your CDL.

SCHEDULE
- Summer schedule: Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 4:00pm CST.
- Winter schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm CST with some overtime when needed for snow plowing.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Examine vehicles and determine the extent of repairs.
- Repair vehicles as needed.
- Maintain vehicles by performing general maintenance and safety checks, including changing oil, lubricating parts, changing tires, etc.
- Overhaul and repair engines, transmissions, differentials, and other components using mechanical tools and test equipment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License required (may obtain after hire, see note below).
- Those without CDLs will be considered. If hired, the candidate will be a temporary employee until a CDL is obtained (typically obtained within 90 days of employment).
- The Road Commission utilizes an on-site trainer which reduces the cost to obtain the CDL.
- Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation drug screening.
- Hazardous Materials (H), Tank (T), and/or State of Michigan Master Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic certification are a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in maintenance and repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
