Hawthorne Vision Center is seeking a dedicated full-time Optician to join our team in Portland, OR. We love our patients and you will too! As an Optician, you will ensure that patients receive exceptional guidance in selecting eyecare and managing their vision needs. In addition, you will be responsible for insurance claims management.

WHAT WE OFFER:

●       Competitive wage of $24.00-$26.00 per hour commensurate with education and experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on prescription, comfort, lifestyle needs, and aesthetic preferences. 

• Accurately measure and fit eyewear using tools such as pupillometers and lensometers. 

• Educate patients on lens options, treatments, and proper eyewear care. 

• Place, verify, and receive eyewear orders; inspect finished glasses for accuracy and quality to align with ANSI standards. 

• Adjust, repair, and maintain eyeglasses and frames as needed. 

• Maintain knowledge of current optical products, styles, and trends. 

• Ensure accurate patient records and process insurance benefits, including Eyefinity for VSP benefits. 

• Provide outstanding customer service by addressing patient concerns and questions. 

• Support the overall efficiency of the practice by collaborating with doctors and staff. 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• ABO certified OR 3+ years of experience working as an Optician preferred. 

• Knowledge of optical terminology, eyewear materials, and lens technology is a plus. 
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. 

• Professional, upbeat, positive, and punctual. 

• Passionate about providing exceptional customer service.
