Hawthorne Vision Center is hiring a full-time Patient Check-In/Check-Out Coordinator to join our close-knit team in Portland, OR. As a Patient Check-In/Check-Out Coordinator you will provide exceptional front desk support by welcoming patients, managing check-in and check-out, verifying insurance, handling payments, and keeping the office running smoothly.

WHAT WE OFFER:

• Competitive hourly wage of $18.00-$21.00 commensurate with education and experience.

SCHEDULE: 32 hours per week including Saturday mornings.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Greet and check in all patients and guests to the practice.
• Prepare charts for the following business day, including checking and verifying insurance coverage and communicating benefits to patients.
• Communicate with patients and monitor email and electronic programs.
• Keep the Optometrists on schedule and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Check out patients, explain insurance benefits, calculate out-of-pocket expenses, and collect payments.
• Coordinate referrals and chart sharing.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working in an optometric setting preferred but not required.
• Experience working with medical records, electronic claims submission, and insurance payments preferred. Experience specifically with RevolutionEHR, Availity, Office Ally, and Eyefinity is a bonus.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and self-motivation.
• While not mandatory, knowledge of medical terminology is helpful.
