Pettibone
Pettibone is hiring a Product Manager to join their Sales Team in Baraga, Michigan.
If you know heavy equipment, understand what customers need, and enjoy turning market opportunities into products that make sense in the real world, this could be a great next step. The Product Manager helps guide the strategy, development, performance, and growth of our equipment products. You’ll become a go-to market expert for your assigned product lines—working closely with customers and our Sales, Engineering, and Marketing teams to understand what the market needs, where opportunities exist, and what we should build, improve, or prioritize next.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the product, the customer, and the business—not managing products from behind a desk.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $85,000 – $110,000 annual salary based on your experience and qualifications.
- Medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage (employee and family plans available).
- Health Savings Account and Flex Spending Account.
- Company paid short-term and long-term disability insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% company match.
- Employee Assistance Program.
- Paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays, and volunteer time—just to name a few).
- Full-time Monday – Friday position (8am-4:30pm).
- Great onboarding program combined with a team-oriented, fun work environment.
WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE.
- Own product strategy and help build and manage product roadmaps.
- Learn how customers use our equipment and identify ways to improve the product and operator experience.
- Gather customer and market feedback and turn it into clear product requirements and priorities.
- Research competitors, market size, pricing, economic trends, and new market opportunities.
- Help determine which product features and development projects provide the greatest customer and business value.
- Develop market and product requirements for new products and improvements.
- Recommend pricing, revenue forecasts, and project budgets to support revenue and profitability goals.
- Lead cross-functional product development projects from market need through execution.
- Monitor product performance, health, and profitability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work closely with Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to keep product priorities aligned.
- Support key customer and strategic sales opportunities when deeper product expertise is needed.
- Serve as a strong voice for the customer throughout product planning and development.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR. Someone who understands that a good product starts with understanding the customer. You’re comfortable digging into data and market information, but you’re equally comfortable talking with customers, Sales, engineers, and the people who build and use the equipment. Ideally, you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree; a technical/engineering or marketing background with a product management focus is preferred.
- 3 or more years of Product Management experience, preferably within manufacturing.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment products and manufacturing/assembly processes.
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-informed decisions.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and clearly communicate product direction and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management experience or certification is a plus.
- A proactive, self-directed work style and willingness to take ownership.
- Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%), including overnight and extended travel. Travel is primarily domestic, but international travel may occasionally be necessary.
