St. Francis de Sales Catholic School is seeking a Principal to join their team in Manistique, MI. As principal, you are responsible for the administration and supervision of the school in accord with the policies of the Diocese of Marquette and the Catholic Schools Office. As its chief administrator, the principal promotes the vitality of the Catholic school by modeling spiritual, instructional, communicational, and managerial leadership.

WHAT WE OFFER.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Collaborate with the pastor(s) on all aspects of religious education, including curriculum, textbooks, liturgical functions, service learning, and parent programs.
  • Serve as the school’s lead catechist, modeling the Catholic faith and providing opportunities for shared spiritual growth and faith celebrations.
  • Integrate Gospel values and Catholic ethics into school practices, policies, and daily activities.
  • Support parents as primary faith educators and strengthen connections between the school and parish community.
  • Foster unity, collaboration, and a shared vision among faculty, staff, students, parents, pastor(s), and the School Advisory Commission.
  • Maintain transparent and timely communication with the school, parish, civic community, media, and other Catholic schools.
  • Serve as an accessible leader supporting faculty in academic and disciplinary matters and articulating the school’s mission to stakeholders.
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs, ensuring effective curriculum delivery and enrichment opportunities.
  • Provide faculty training, professional development, and regular meetings to support continuous improvement and accreditation efforts.
  • Collaborate with diocesan leadership, pastor(s), and advisory bodies to guide long-range planning, school goals, and overall welfare.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, supervise, and evaluate school personnel in accordance with diocesan policies.
  • Manage school operations and compliance, including finances, Safe Environment directives, accreditation, and state/federal program participation.
  • Promote the school through marketing, enrollment efforts, public relations, and effective conflict and organizational management.
  • Maintain and update key administrative documents, including handbooks, technology policies, and diocesan, parish, and governmental reports.
  • Ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming school environment, support effective routines and discipline, and pursue ongoing professional growth and certification maintenance.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related degree is required.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church required.
  • Experience working as a principal or in a similar school leadership role preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an educational setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A willingness to embrace the values of Catholic education and support the Mission and Vision of our school.
  • Solid knowledge of subject matter and how students learn.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience with staff recruitment, supervision, and professional development.
