If so, the Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) has an immediate opening for a Special Education Teacher in Hancock, Michigan. In this role, you’ll lead either an elementary, or middle and high school self-contained classroom serving students with cognitive impairments, creating engaging, individualized learning experiences while helping students build academic, social, behavioral, and life skills.
You’ll work closely with students, families, educators, and support staff to help each student succeed while providing opportunities to participate in the general education curriculum and school community whenever appropriate.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $50,300 – $82,300 annual starting salary based on education and years’ of experience.
- PLUS $1,500 annual Special Education Classroom Teacher Stipend (paid bi-weekly).
- Health insurance. No health insurance needed? We’ll pay you $661.84/month instead (yes, even during the summer break).
- 100% employer-paid dental, vision, life, and accidental death/dismemberment insurance premiums (fully paid by the CCISD).
- Paid sick days (10) and paid personal days (4).
- Michigan Public School Employee Retirement Plan (MPSERS).

- Full-time school-year position with summers off.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- Michigan teaching certificate required.
- Michigan Special Education Approval required.
- A Michigan Cognitive Impairment (CI) teaching endorsement is preferred.
- Experience is a plus; passion is essential. While prior teaching experience is valued, it’s not the sole compass guiding our search. Above all, we’re on the hunt for individuals ignited by a passion for empowering and educating students with special needs. Your dedication and commitment to this endeavor speaks volumes and goes beyond mere years in the classroom.
