Massie Manufacturing, Inc., is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to join their welding, machining, and fabrication team in Baraga, Michigan.
Take a part from print to production. In this position, you program, set up, and run CNC equipment to produce precision components for assemblies and weldments. You’ll work hands-on at the machine, develop and improve programs, select tooling and machining strategies, troubleshoot issues, and make sure finished parts meet customer specifications.
This is not a programming-only position. Strong hands-on CNC setup experience is essential.

What Your Day Looks Like:
- Program, set up, and run CNC machines, including VMCs, HMCs, and CNC lathes.
- Use Mastercam to create, modify, and improve CNC programs from prints and CAD models.
- Complete machine setups, including tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds, feeds, and coordinate systems.
- Read blueprints and technical drawings to determine the best machining approach.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues as they come up.
- Inspect finished parts with precision measuring tools and make adjustments to maintain quality.
- Work with Engineering and the machining team on new jobs, process improvements, and keeping production moving efficiently.
What We Are Looking For:
- Hands-on experience setting up, programming, and running CNC machines.
- Experience using Mastercam to create or modify CNC programs. Around 5 years of programming experience is preferred.
- Experience with CNC machining centers such as VMCs, HMCs, and CNC lathes.
- A solid understanding of tooling, workholding, offsets, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Experience using precision measuring tools and making adjustments to keep parts within specification.
- Good troubleshooting skills when a setup, program, tool, or part is not running as expected.
- Experience with fixture or workholding design, 4th-axis milling, CNC lathe programming, or SolidWorks is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training in machining, CNC operations, manufacturing technology, or a related area is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while staying connected with the team.
