Eberle Eyecare is looking for a friendly and dependable Optometric Technician to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with patients, learning new skills, and being part of a close-knit eye care team. In this role, you will primarily help prepare patients for their eye exams, perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, support the doctor during patient visits, and assist with admin-related tasks.

Previous optometry or medical experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are happy to train the right person who is dependable, comfortable working with patients, and eager to learn.

What You Will Do.

  • Welcome patients and prepare them for their eye exams.
  • Review and record patient medical and vision history.
  • Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, including autorefraction, visual fields, retinal imaging, and other standard testing.
  • Explain testing procedures and help patients feel comfortable throughout their visit.
  • Enter accurate patient information and testing results into the electronic health record system.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms and testing equipment.
  • Sterilize instruments and ensure clinical areas remain organized and ready for patients.
  • Assist the doctor during exams and procedures as needed.
  • Help coordinate patient flow to keep appointments running smoothly and on time.
  • Assist with insurance verification, billing information, payment collection, and other billing-related tasks.
  • Answer patient questions and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Help with occasional scheduling, phone calls, check-in, or check-out responsibilities when needed.
  • Support other clinical and administrative responsibilities as part of the practice team.

What We’re Looking For.

  • Experience in optometry, healthcare, patient care, medical assisting, or customer service is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, Optometric Assistant, Ophthalmic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician is a plus.
  • Experience with insurance, medical billing, medical terminology, or electronic health record systems is helpful.
  • Comfortable learning and using diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record patient information.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple responsibilities in a busy practice.
  • Friendly, professional, and patient-centered communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn both clinical and billing responsibilities.
  • Dependable and able to work the practice’s normal office hours, including Saturdays during the winter schedule.

Schedule:

Summer Hours

  • Monday–Thursday: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:00 a.m.–4:15 p.m.

Winter Hours

  • Tuesday–Friday: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
