NYCOA is seeking an experienced and analytical Staff Accountant to join our team at our Manchester, New Hampshire manufacturing facility.

In this role, you will work closely with the Controller and play a key part in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, month-end close, ERP implementation, and day-to-day accounting operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Financial Management & Operations: Support and manage daily accounting activities including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, treasury, cost accounting, and inventory management.
• Month-End Close & Reporting: Complete monthly financial closings, prepare financial statements, perform account reconciliations, record journal entries, and support cash forecasting and special financial analyses.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide meaningful interpretation to support operational and business decisions.
• Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support: Partner with production teams to maintain accurate cost accounting information, monitor manufacturing variances, investigate issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• ERP Systems & Process Improvement: Help lead the transition from NYCOA’s legacy accounting platform to a more robust ERP system while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Accounting Team Support: Provide guidance and support across general accounting, accounts payable, billing, credit and collections, and payroll functions.
• Audits & Compliance: Coordinate annual audits and tax filing preparation with outside CPA firms, manage borrowing-base reporting, and support lender and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Internal Controls & Budgeting: Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls while coordinating the annual budgeting process with department leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience: At least 5 years of professional accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required, including a strong background in cost accounting.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Accounting Knowledge: Strong experience with financial analysis, financial reporting, job cost accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, budgeting, month-end close, and general accounting processes.
• Technical Skills: Strong technical aptitude with hands-on experience using ERP systems and participating in ERP implementations or system migrations required.
• Accounting Software: Experience using accounting and financial reporting software preferred. Experience with Paychex Payroll is a plus.
• Audit Experience: Previous internal or external audit experience is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Collaboration: Ability to work closely with the Controller, accounting team, production employees, and department leaders to solve problems and support business decisions.

This is a full-time, onsite position at our manufacturing facility in Manchester, New Hampshire.
